Anne of Gwyn
Page Title

"There she weaves by night and day
A magic web with colours gay.
She has heard a whisper say,
A curse is on her if she stay...
She knows not what the curse may be,
And so she weaveth steadily,
And little other care hath she,
The Lady of Shalott."

[ from "The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson]

Background

On her father's untimely death, Princess Anne was called to lead the kingdom of Gwyn in his stead. Anne had always known she would one day be queen of Gwyn, but she is shocked and grieved by her father's sudden death and believes that he was murdered. She still does not completely understand the truth behind his death.

Anne is a solemn, duty-bound woman. She devotes herself to magick in the service of others and is a faithful high priestess of the Goddess. She has commissioned a special worship temple to the Goddess, adjacent to which is a hospital where priestesses of the Goddess serve.

Though weak in physical combat, Anne has powerful magickal abilities and can cast potent spells. She is loyal to her kingdom and subjects, and when she finds Gwyn being threatened by an uncompromising invader, she refuses to back away from the defense of her kingdom, despite the advice of many.

Anne has pale blonde wavy hair and aqua-blue eyes. She is pale, tall and slender with delicate features and a slight frame. She has grown up in the relative shelter of the castle walls, and while educated in the arts and sciences, has little experience or knowledge of day to day life for the underprivileged.

It is written in the prophecies: "One day a shadow will sweep over the golden land, and the queen will be overtaken. She will fall into a sleeping death for a thousand years and can only be saved by powerful magick. The queen is tied to the land. When she sleeps, so sleeps the land, and when she awakens, so will awake the land. But while the queen sleeps, the golden land will fall into darkness and despair."

Despite the seers that warn Anne of her terrifying fate, she remains strong in her battle for Gwyn. She is calm in the knowledge that she must submit her life in the name of Gwyn. The darkness moves closer to Gwyn, and it is only a matter of time before the shadow falls over her life. But Anne's spirit is strange, rare and powerful.
